Chennai, Feb 13 (UNI) A city court today restrained a Tamil private satellite channel from telecasting an advertisement and teleserial about forest brigand Veerappan.

The VIII Assistant City Civil Court Judge Ananthi granted the interim injunction on a suit filed by V Muthulakshmi, wife of Veerappan. She also sought a permanent injunction restraining the Managing Director of M/S Tamizhan Television, from telecasting the name, identity and interpretation of her husband Veerappan in any form, or in any name which would reflect his history and events without her written consent.

In her suit, Muthulakshmi submitted that for the past several years the activity and news of Veerappan became familiar in the minds of public. After his death, media were trying to make the events about the life of Veerappan commercially as a teleserial, film or any story.

Now the Tamizhan Television was advertising that it was going to telecast a teleserial in the name of 'Maveeran' from February 14, 2007. If the private satellite channel telecasted the teleserial it might damage and tarnish the image, name and identity of her husband.

Also if the serial was telecast, the studies and future of her children would be affected. It would later bring irrepairable loss, damages and hardship to herself and her children's life, she contended.
