Hyderabad, Feb 13 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today alleged the government did not give priority to the welfare of the poor in the Governor's address to the Assembly.

Initiating discussion on yesterday's Governor's address, Mr Naidu pointed out the government failed to spend money allocated for the welfare of poor during 2006-07 Budget.

Welfare of the poor, providing basic amenities and housing to them was not mentioned in the Governor's speech which was approved by the State Cabinet.

Stating the spiralling prices of essential commodities and issues facing the common man did not find mention in the address, he alleged instead of solving problems of the poor, the Congress Government was attacking the TDP for pointing out its failures.

Pointing out the government was acquiring lands from farmers at throwaway prices and not providing rehabilitation to them, Mr Naidu alleged the government was acquiring fertile lands to set up SEZs and encouraging real estate business indirectly.

The government had also failed to strengthen the power sector and was neglecting power generation which was vital for setting up more industries and increasing agriculture output, the TDP chief alleged.

He also promised to supply power for at least nine hours everyday if the TDP came to power in the next Assembly elections in the state.
