Wildlife conservation training programme to begin from Feb 9
Guwahati, Feb 12 (UNI) A five-day wildlife conservation training programme is being organized by the reputed Wildlife NGO Aaranyak, the British High Commission, British Council and Association of British Scholars (Guwahati Chapter) at Orang National Park in collaboration with the Tropical Biology Association, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and the Asom Forest Department between February 9-13.
Secretary General of Aaranyak Dr Bibhab Kumar Talukdar hoped the training programme will raise the awareness level and improve the skill of the conservationists.
The programme was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Executive Member of BTC, Kampa Borgoyari. The inaugural function held at the Tourist Lodge, Silbori was also addressed by Prof PC Bhattacharjee, Department of Zoology, Gauhati University, Mr Geroge Basumatary, the Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri and Mr GC Basumatary, Chief Head of the Department, Forests in BTC. All the dignitaries have lauded the effort made by the organisers to capacitate the young conservation workers of the Eastern India.
On the first day of the training programme, Mr Jayanta Deka, Range Officer of Orang National Park briefed the participants on the rich biodiversity of Orang. A total of 22 participants from different background are attending the training programme.
