Vodafone wins Hutch Essar auction,to pay $ 11.1 bln

BARCELONA, Feb 11 (Reuters) Vodafone confirmed on Sunday that it had won the auction for a controlling stake in India's fourth biggest mobile operator Hutchison Essar, paying .1 billion for a 67 percent shareholding.

''We're paying .1 billion for the stake,'' a Vodafone spokesman said, adding that the deal would give Hutch Essar an enterprise value of .8 billion.

Earlier, a source close to the auction told Reuters said Vodafone had won the race that gives the Indian operator an enterprise value of just under billion.
