UP bans setting up of new private dental colleges
Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has banned setting up of new dental colleges in the private sector and decided to provide 246 recognised sanskrit schools with government grants.
The decision was taken by the state cabinet here which was chaired by chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
According to a statement, the government banned setting up of the new dental colleges to maintain quality of the education.
However, the ban would not be enforced on such dental colleges which had applied for setting up the institute or whose inspection has been done.
In another decision, the government decided to bring 246 unaided sanskrit schools/colleges, recognised by December 2000, under government grant. In the first phase, 156 sanskrit schools and colleges would be provided government grant by April, 2007 while the rest would be taken up in a phased manner at a later stage.
The state government will have to spent an additional Rs 19 crore for the grant.
The state government also decided to provide 21.97 acre of land free of cost for setting up Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Baberu tehsil in Banda district.
