Two gored to death, 300 injured during 'Jallikattu'
Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, Feb 12 (UNI) Two people were killed and over 300 people injured, a few of them seriously, in the annual 'Jallikattu' (Taming of Bulls) event held at Thennalur here this evening.
Police said the identities of the two people, who were gored to death during the event, were not ascertained.
The seriously injured were shifted to Government Head Quarters Hospital at Tiruchirappali, while the people with minor injuries were provided treatment by the medical team, camping at the place, police added.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said at least eight people were gored to the death during the event.
The 'Jallikattu', which takes place at famous 'Muthu Mariyamman temple' ground here every year on the 29th day of the Tamil month 'Thai' is the second largest event, after the one at Alankanallur in Madurai.
UNI
