Spirituality is remedy for social evils: Sri Sri Ravishankar

Jabalpur, Feb 12 (UNI) Art of Living founder and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar today said the menace of naxalism and terrorism could be tackled through spirituality.

''Naxalism and terrorism is creating instability in the country.

These problems can be solved through spiritual education and effort must be made to bring these misguided youth back to the mainstream through spirituality,'' Sri Sri told reporters here today.

Replying to a question, he said he had held discussions with several leaders in naxalite-affected areas in Andhra Pradesh.

He said there was no reason why these misguided persons can not be brought back to the mainstream.

Sri Sri pointed out that the gap between high-caste and dalits was widening due to social inequality. This was affecting the progress of the nation.

He said it was necessary to reduce this widening gap. He said he had started a seven-point programme in this regard.

The Art of Living Founder said false propaganda was being made about India in foreign countries creating a belief that 'dalits' were tortured by high-caste people. He was striving to dispel this myth.

Replying to a question, he said there had been a fall in people's character. There has been a loss of morality among government officials causing inconvenience to people. Corruption has increased in police and administration.

Sri Sri said spirituality was best remedy to these social evils.
