PT demands filling up of lecturer vacancies

Chennai, Feb 12: The members of the Puthiya Thamizhagam (PT) staged a demonstration demanding filling up of all the 525 vacancies for college lecturers in government colleges, meant for Scheduled Castes, at a stretch.

Speaking on the occasion here today, PT Founder President K Krishnasamy said the vacancies were kept in abeyance for years and it was high time for the Tamil Nadu Government fill them up in a single recruitment drive.

About the government's move to clear it in a phased manner, he said, "it will not serve the purpose as new vacancies creep up every year." He urged Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to take a decision in this regard immediately.
