Srinagar, Feb 12: Hundreds of family members of those missing since 1990 took to the streets in different parts of the city, demanding setting up of a commission to probe the cases.

About five hundred parents and other relatives of 20 persons, missing since 1990, took to streets at Batmaloo today. After marching through different streets, they sat on a dharna for about half an hour on the main road near the police headquarter, demanding setting up of a commission to probe the cases.

Raising anti-security force slogans, they alleged that their relatives disappeared after their arrest by different security agencies, including police, from different parts of the valley.

The processionists were also joined by the chief of Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP), whose son Javid Ahmad Ahangar is also missing since 1990.

Similar demonstrations were also held at Hazratbal and other down town areas. However, the demosntrations were peaceful.

The APDP alleged that about 8000 people are missing in Jammu and Kashmir since 1990.

The ADPD intensified its activities after four senior police officials were arrested for killing four civilians, who were also reported missing.

The four civilians were killed by the Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir police after labelling them foreign terrorists in Ganderbal area.
