President Kalam to inaugurate two-day Urban Summit 2007
Ahmedabad, Feb 12 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate the two-day 'Vibrant Gujarat Urban Summit 2007', beginning February 15 in Ahmedabad.
Urban Development Minister Indravijaysinh Jadeja told reporters that after the success of 'Vibrant Gujarat Summit' last month, the Summit was the State government's latest initiative.
He said State Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma and Chief Minister Narendra Modi would preside over the function.
On February 14 at 1700 hrs, Modi will inaugurate a handicrafts exhibition at the Summit venue.
Jadeja said the two-day Summit aimed to promote reliable services and good qulity of life to its citizens. The summit will provide an opportunity to share initiatives and reforms undertaken in the State and to explore mutually beneficial partnerships in its future progress.
He said the Summit's objective was to attract private sector investment in infrastructure development, to collaborate and learn from national and international experience and to highlight ongoing reforms in urban development at State and city level.
He said Gujarat topped the country in terms of urban development.
The two-day Summit would lead to increased awareness about reforms being undertaken in urban Gujarat, will generate practical and actionable urban development ideas, stronger network and partnerships among urban leaders, private sectors, NGO's and develop interest in private sector to invest in urban Gujarat.
He said that over 1,000 delegates including eminent personalities, speakers and opinion makers from across the country, World Bank country chief, government secretaries and experts from Isreali multi-national companies are likely to attend the Summit.
