J&K Employment Minister reviews self-employment schemes

Jammu, Feb 12 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Labour and Employment Mangat Ram Sharma today reviewed the implementation of various self-employment schemes and stressed the need for gearing up efforts in career counseling and vocational guidance of the students.

He said the department should take up this activity in a sustainable manner with a view to reach out the student community at large, so as to render effective career guidance at their doorsteps.

It would be possible only by active participation of various vocational institutions such as industrial training institutes, he added.

Attending a high level meeting here today, Mr Sharma directed the functionaries to work closely in coordination with other agencies to evolve a strategy in order to find out the actual number of unemployeds in the region.

He also underlined the need for establishing overseas employment corporation and asked the employment department to come up with a concrete proposal in this regard as there is a vast scope of employment for the educated unemployed youth of the region in other nations.
