H L Dattu sworn in as Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh HC
Raipur, Feb 12 (UNI) Justice H L Dattu was sworn in today as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
Governor E S L Narasimhan administered the oath of office to Mr Dattu at a function held at Raj Bhawan.
Chief Minister Raman Singh, his cabinet colleagues, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey, senior civil and police officials were among those present.
Mr Dattu, who till now was the senior-most judge of the Karnataka High Court, succeeds Justice S R Nayak. Mr Nayak too was for several years a judge of the Karnataka High Court before his elevation.
Later, in an informal conversation with newspersons, Chief Justice Dattu said one of his priorities was to initiate steps to bring down the number of pending cases and to eliminate delay in administration of justice.
