Do not notify Cauvery award in haste, JD(S) tells Centre

Bangalore, Feb 12 (UNI) The ruling coalition partner Janata Dal (Secular) today urged the Union Government not to show any haste in notifying the final verdict of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal ''until justice is done to Karnataka''.

In a release here, Party Spokeman Y S V Datta pointed out that even after two decades of the Ravi-Beas Water Disputes Tribunal coming out with its verdict, the Centre had not notified it in the gazette.

Complimenting the people for showing solidarity in observing a peaceful Statewide bandh, he said it had sent a strong signal to the nation that the people remained united on the core issue, ''which had widespread implications on the State's interests''.
