Congress activist injured in shooting incident in Punjab
Bathinda, Feb 12 (UNI) A Congress worker was seriously injured in firing during a scuffle between the ruling party and Shiromani Akali Dal activists at Mehraj, the native village of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in the Rampura Phul assembly constituency of the district today, police reports here said.
The injured, identified as Binder Singh, was referred to the DMC hospital in Ludhiana as he was hit by three bullets and his condition was stated to be serious.
The incident occurred when SAD candidate Sikander Singh Malooka was returning to Rampura Phul town along with his gunmen and his supporters had an altercation with workers of the Congress.
According to reports, the Congress worker was hit by a bullet while standing outside the election office of Gurpreet Singh Khangar, the ruling party candidate from Rampura Phul.
Police have registered cases against both Congress and the SAD activists, including SAD candidate's son Gurcharan Singh and his two gunmen.
