Patiala, Feb 12 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today feared that the ''Green brigade'' of Haryana's Indian National Lok Dal, could create trouble in the adjoining districts as Punjab goes to assembly polls tomorrow.

Talking to mediapersons accompanying him during his door-to-door campaign in neighbouring Samana assembly segment on the poll eve, Capt Singh expressed fear that these elements may create trouble during the elections on the behest of INLD chief and former Haryana Chief Minister, Om Parkash Chautala.

''However, the police has been directed to flush out all the the goonda element from the towns of Punjab, and keep extra vigil in the segments bordering Haryana,'' Capt Singh said, asserting that that he has anxiety over the Punjab assembly polls.

''I am more anxious that people should come to exercise their right as I apprehend that some elements may try to prevent them from exercising the vote,'' he said.

The Chief Minister described as ''fake'' an advertisement, today which claimed that the chief of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda had not given any call to its followers to vote for any particular party.

''This is the handiwork of SAD and I am confident that the Dera will continue to extend support to Congress as announced earlier,'' he said.

The Chief Minister said he was satisfied with his poll campaign and the issues raised by him and was confident of breaking the 40-year-old jinx of anti-incumbency factor in the state where people have not returned any party to power since 1966.

The only exception was Pratap Singh Kairon, who was assassinated on the outskirts of Delhi in the mid-1960s.

He was optimistic about getting overwhelming response from the Malwa area as well as Majha and Doaba.

Capt Singh, accompanied by party candidate Brahm Mohindra spent half an hour at his office here and met Congress workers. The Chief Minister was forced to cancel his meeting here on Friday due to bad weather.

Capt Singh's visit to Samana on the crucial poll eve apparently seeks to stem speculations that Brahm Mohindra, a former minister does not have the full backing of the Punjab chief Minister. The brother of Capt Singh, Raja Malwinder Singh stayed away from the Samana constituency though he has been campaigning extensively in neighbouring Shutrana.

Raja Malwinder Singh had locked horns with Brahm Mohindra at the time of allotment of tickets but in the end the former minister pipped him.
