'Shetkari Sangathana to contest ZP elections on own'

Sangli, Maharashtra, Feb 11 (UNI) The Shetakari Sanghatana will contest the coming zilla parishad and panchayat samiti elections in Maharashtra on its own, Sanghatana's state chief Raghunathdada Patil said here today.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Patil said the Sanghatana has decided to contest the elections independently without forging an alliance with any political party.

The Shetkari Sanghatana will launch its election campaign on February 19 from the Raigad Fort on the occasion of Shiv Jayanthi, he said.

The Shetkari Sangathana will take up the issues of load-shedding, farmers suicide, and such others in its election campaign, he added.
