Rudy claims BJP and NDA gaining in strength

Jalandhar, Feb 11 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman and former Union Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy has claimed that despite the departure of the party's old guards like Ms Uma Bharati and Mr Madan Lal Khurana the party as well as National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are slowly emerging as a strong national alternative to Congress and UPA.

Talking to reporters here today, Mr Rudy said BJP was not an individual or family based party but it was a well organised cadre based party where individuals, who-so-ever he or she might be, did not matter.

He said the NDA allies, including BJP had been growing stronger and they had so far proved their mettle in assembly elections in Bihar and civic bodies elections in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh.

He said that in the ensuing assembly elections in Punjab, the NDA allies--BJP and SAD--were surging ahead to form the next government in this state and they were also set to peform well in Uttarakand assembly polls. Contrary to this, the UPA coalition had started showing signs of disintegration, he added.

He said the present UPA Government had failed in delivering good governance.

Mr Rudy said the reported stand of Mr George Fernandes in favour of Samajwadi Party, was an internal affair of Janata Dal (U) and BJP or UPA had no role to play in this regard.
