BPL Sanyo sets target to sell 7.5 lakh TV in 2007-08

Vijayawada, Feb 11 (UNI) BPL Sanyo Private Ltd has set a target to sell 7.5 lakh televisions of different models across the country in 2007-2008.

Speaking at a press conference here today Sanyo International President Toshiaki Iue said Sanyo, one of the world's largest manufacturers of consumer electronics and commercial equipments, was planning to become market leaders in the slim TV category in India.

Having necessary infrastructure in place, and plans to increase business this year he said Sanyo would come up with widest line-up of slim TVs, all with Smart Slim Technology (SST) representing Sanyo and BPL brands, which revolutionise the colour TV market in the country.

He said keeping up to international standards, Sanyo was launching new technology products in India, simultaneously with the rest of the world, by bringing in innovative original Japanese technology products.

BPL Sanyo Director Katsuyoshi Takahashi said the company had got a tremendous response in Andhra Pradesh as the consumers were more aware of international brands.

Aiming to attain number 1 share in Andhra Pradesh very soon Mr Takahashi said the company was confident of achieving a 17 per cent market share over the next five years in the highly competitive colour TV category.

The manufacturing unit for CTVs in Bangalore had been certified with ISO 14001, he revealed.

The BPL Sanyo slim TV category already had four models in the market and four more in the pipeline, he added.
