Unseasonal rains in MP
Bhopal, Feb 10 (UNI) One person died and another was injured when lightning struck them in Indore today even as heavy rains and hailstorm lashed most parts of Madhya Pradesh since last night.
Normal life was affected at many places with dark clouds reducing visibility in Jabalpur town during the day for a brief period.
According to met office, winter rains, more suitable for wheat crops, were caused by western disturbances.
In the state capital, light rains continued even during the day today, bringing down the temperature considerably.
In the past 24 hours, Jabalpur recorded highest 33.7 mm rainfall, Sheopurkala 15 mm, Gwalior 12.7 mm and Bhopal 10.2 mm.
The Met office forecast isolated rains in Bhopal, Indore, Hoshangabad and Ujjain divisions in the next 24 hours.
Agriculture experts said the unseasonal rains was beneficial for wheat crop but would cause damage to gram and other pulse crops, which were ready for harvest.
Electricity supply was snapped at many places last night due to the rains.
