Self-Immolation bid; 3 Securitymen suspended
Puri, Feb 10 (UNI) An Assistant Sub-inspector and two constables of the Gop police station were suspended for dereliction of duty following a self-immolation bid by a BJD woman activist before Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on February 6.
Sarasdwati Nayak had breached the security cordon and went near the podium at an election meeting of Mr Patnaik at Ganeswarpur and made an abortive attempt to kill herself. She was protesting for denying her party ticket in the election.
But the security personnel saved her. She was now in S.C.B.Medical college and hospital in Cuttack.
State Director General of Police Amarananda Pattnaik conducted an inquiry and on the basis of the report, three securitymen were put under suspension.
