Rain, hailstorm lash Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal, Feb 10: Normal life was affected as unseasonal rains and hailstorm lashed many areas in Madhya Pradesh since last night.
In the state capital, light rains continued even during the day today, bringing down the temperature considerably.
Weather office said rain or thunder showers were recorded at many places in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Hoshangabad divisions, while hailstorm lashed many areas.
Highest 33 mm rainfall was recorded in Jabalpur division, Raisen 31 mm, Hoshangabad 17.8mm , Sheopurkalan 15mm, Gwalior and Sagar 12mm, Bhopal 10 mm and Indore 2 m m.
Agriculture experts said the unseasonal rains was beneficial for wheat crop but would cause damage to gram and other pulse crops, which were ready for harvest.
Electricity supply was snapped at many places last night due to the rains. The unseasonal rains were caused by depression formed in north western Madhya Pradesh. Cold weather was likely to aggravate in next two days and minimum temperature likely to fall by one or two degree celsius, the weather office said.
