Mufti arrives in Jammu without security cover
Jammu, Feb 10: Days after surrendering his and his daughter's personal security cover, the former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed arrived here last evening from New Delhi and drove home in a private vehicle.
The PDP patron did not talk to media at the airport and left for his residence without state security.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also arrived here from Srinagar and used a private vehicle to reach her residence.
Following the suit, other PDP MLAs had also written to the CM, seeking withdrawal of personal security given to them.
Mr Sayeed, in a letter to Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, had said PDP had always maintained that a dignified solution to the problems of Jammu and Kashmir could come only through dialogue and peaceful means.
Former deputy chief minister and senior leader Muzzaffar Hussain Baig had said withdrawal of security by Party leaders, including Mr Sayeed, Ms Mehbooba and all 24 legislators does not carry any malafide intentions.
Mr Baig, while refuting National Conference's reaction, which termed 'security withdrawal as political drama', said the coalition government is running the affairs with unanimous approach of all its partners.
Meanwhile, party sources said a meeting of its political affairs committee has been called today to discuss the current political situation in the state.
