JIPMER Anti-conversion committee to stage demo
Puducherry, Feb 10 (UNI) The JIPMER Anti-conversion Peoples Action Committee will stage a demonstration in front of the Post Office on Nehru street here on February 20, to condemn the remarks made by two MPs from the Union Territory on the conversion of JIPMER into an autonomus institution.
Committee President and CPM Tamil Nadu council member T Murugan, at a press conference here today said the party had posed a few questions to Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss and informed the minister that the CPI(M) would allow the introduction of the JIPMER conversion bill in the Parliament only after getting a proper explantion.
Dr Anbumani, replying to the queries sought by the CPM on the continuation of free treatment, free education and provision of group 'C and D' jobs to the local youths said, these could be included in the Bill later. Hence, the party opposed it and prevented the introduction of the Bill in the last session of the Parliament, Mr Murugan said.
However, the two Parliament members from the UT - V Narayanasamy and M Ramadass- said there was no attempt to introduce the Bill in the last session which need to be condemed strongly, the CPM leader said.
To condemn certain critical remarks made by Mr Narayanasamy against the Left parties and to press that JIPMER should continue as an institution under the Union Health ministry, the Committee would organise a demonstration in front of JIPMER on February 23.
