Govt to address the issue of mine workers of Bengal: CM
Durgapur, Feb 10 (UNI) Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said the issue of safety and development conditions of mine workers in West Bengal need to be addressed.
''More than 90,000 labourers work in about 18 mines all over the state'' Mr Bhattacharya said at his address speech at the 'khoni utsav' at Kunostoria in Asnasol.
''Subsidence in mines has become a problem which is increasingly affecting the National Highways and railway tracks. We must look into the safety and the development of the working conditions of the labourers,'' he said.
Among others present at the 'utsav' were state Power Minister Mrinal Banerjee and Member of Parliament Bangagopal Chowdhury.
