EC issues notice to Punjab CM

Chandigarh, Feb 10 (UNI) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a notice to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for making 'certain announcements' at an election rally, which tantamounted to the violation of the model code of conduct.

The notice pertained to the announcements made by the Chief Minister at an election rally in the Chamkaur Sahib assembly constituency during the campaign, an official spokesman today stated.

The Chief Minister has been directed to send his reply to the ECI by 1100 hours tomorrow.
