CPI(M) Polit Bureau to discuss land issues

Kolkata, Feb 10 (UNI) The CPI(M) Polit Bureau will discuss the ruling Left Front partners' protests over the land acquisition issue at Singur and other places in West Bengal in its meeting at New Delhi on February 17 and 18.

'' We will give priority to the party's intellectual and front partners' opposition over the acquisition of farmland for industrialisation in the meeting,'' party spokesman and Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechuri, who arrived here today, told newspersons at the NSCBI airport here.

The disagreement within the ruling Left Front had cropped up over the acquisition of agricultural land and setting up of SEZs.

The decision to make the state's issue an agenda for the Polit Bureau was taken at a separate meeting of the four PB members - Jyoti Basu, Biman Basu, Chief Minister Budhhadeb Bhattacharjee and the party's general secretary Prakash Karat yesterday.
