Chikkaballapur to be made District

Kolar Gold Fields, Feb 10 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said that the State Government has agreed in principal to form the Chikkaballapur as District.

Speaking after inaugurating various developmental projects at Sidlgatta in Kolar district, he said that a Sub-Committee had been formed to look into the aspects of forming new Districts and Taluks.

"Once the report of the Committee is received a final decision will be taken over formation of new District and taluks", he added.

Expressing his Government's committment for the welfare of the youth and womenfolk, the Chief Minister said the Government has taken a decision to hike the widow pension from Rs 200 to Rs 500 per month. He hinted at a novel programs for the benefit of the women folk and physically handicapped persons in the coming financial year.

Referring to drinking water situation in the district, the Chief Minister said he was aware of the gravity of the situation in the district and delcared that the State Government has decided to implement the Yerogal drinking water project. The project aimed at providing drinking water to four taluks including Kolar, Malur, Mulbagal and Bangarpet will be implemented at an estimated cost of Rs 250 Crore.
