Boy rescued; kidnappers arrested

Hyderabad, Feb 10 (UNI) Cyberabad police today arrested an eight -member gang, which allegedly kidnapped a boy and demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh, and recovered Rs 9.6 lakh, a car and a two-wheeler.

Speaking to media here, Cyberabad Commissioner Prabhakar Reddy said the Special Operation Team arrested the gang which kidnapped Krishna Raju (6), son of a realtor on January 29 from his school.

Stating the kidnappers had demanded Rs 20 lakh and threatened to kill the boy if the parents failed to pay the ransom, Mr Reddy said Raju's father paid Rs 10 lakh to them in Khammam town where the boy was kept in one of the kidnappers' house.

After receiving the information, police swung into action and arrested three persons, including main accused Vijaya Raju, at the boy's school where the trio came to release him. Two others were arrested in Khammam and two knives recovered from them.

Mr Reddy said the boy had been brought for release two days after the Rs 10 lakh had been paid.

All eight accused were taken into custody.
