Assn seeks welfare board for fishermen

Puducherry, Feb 10 (UNI) Puducherry State Fishermen Association today today urged the administration to set up a fishermen welfare board in the Union Territory.

Association president Narayanasamy in a memorandum to Chief Minister N Rangasamy demanded to take immediate steps to appoint people from the fishermen community as chairpersons to government boards and corporations. He also sought the nomination of members from the community to the Territorial Assembly.

Mr Narayanasamy also wanted waiver of loans to fishermen.
