Lucknow, Feb 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey today handed over a copy of the motion of thanks passed on the floor of the House to Governor T V Rajeswar.

Mr Pandey met the Governor this morning and handed him over the copy. It is a tradition to hand over the copy to the Governor after the motion of thanks is passed.

Recently, the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party had managed to pass the motion of thanks, despite a withdrawal of support by the Congress (extending outside support) and the RLD (an ally of the ruling dispensation).

The ruling party had requested the Speaker to consider the passage of the motion as a vote of confidence also.

The Governor had addressed the joint session of the state assembly on January 18 on the inaugural day of the ongoing winter session, being dubbed the farewell session as assembly elections are due soon.
