1984 riot victims' not compensated; DM summoned

Sultanpur, Feb 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh State Information Commission (UPSIC) has summoned the Sultanpur District Magistrate to explain the reason for non-compensation of 1984 anti-Sikh riot' victims, even after the centre's order.

Last year, the Centre had ordered the district administration to compensate all 1984 riot victims by March 2006.

However, even after eight months of the order, the administration failed to take any action, Rashtravadi Sikh Federation and Sriguru Singh Sabha President Indrajeet Singh said here today.

DM Sanjay Kumar was summoned after Sadar Tahsildar failed to satisfactorily answer the questions of the Commission on February 7.
