VSP registers Rs 6,000 crore plus sales turn over
Hyderabad, Feb 9 (UNI) The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) recorded a sales turnover of Rs 6,143 crore for the period April to December 2006, with a growth of 10 per cent over corresponding period last year.
The plant produced eight lakh tonnes of special steel and sold it in this period, with a growth of 39 per cent over last year, according to a release here today.
For its consistent excellent performance, the Centre conferred the status of Mini Ratna on Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the flagship company of the VSP.
The gross margin during April to December 2006 was Rs 1,728 crore with a growth rate of 3.5 per cent, and Profit Before Tax was Rs 1,428 crore with a growth rate of 8.6 per cent.
The plant would expand production to 6.8 million tonnes in 2008-09, 8.5 million tonnes by 2009-10, 13 million tonnes by 2013-14 and to 16 million tonnes by 2017-18, the release added.
The plant would celebrate its silver jubilee celebrations from February 18 to 20.
