Undertrial attempts suicide

Puducherry, Feb 9 (UNI) An undertrial allegedly attempted suicide in the Central Prison yesterday.

According to police here today, Amudavelu (38) of Saidarapet, accused in a murder case attempted to hang himself by using his lungi. Since, he had Chicken Pox he was lodged in a seperate cell.

A jail warden who saw the attempt, saved him and admitted to the Government General Hospital, where he is recovering.

The reason for the suicide attempt was yet to be ascertained.
