Top notch golfers at Global green open starting Feb 22

Bangalore, Feb 9 (UNI) Top golfers of the country will tee off at the rightest professional golf tournament of South India the Rs 60 lakh Solaris Global Green Open to be held at the Bangalore Golf Club from February 22.

The tournament would have the largest field of over 120 golfers.

Prominent among them included the 2003 Volkswagen Masters winner, Rahil Gangjee, 2002 Hero Honda Masters champion Harmeet Kahlon, Indian Tour Order of Merit winner Mukesh Kumar and 2002 Indian Open Champion Vijay Kumar who has over 60 tournament victories on Indian soil to his credit will lead the local challenge.

They would face tough competition from contemporaries like SSP Chowrasia, Digvijay Singh, Gurbaaz Mann, Uttam Singh Mundy, Ashok Kumar, Rafick Ali, Amritinder Singh, Rahul Ganapathy, Amardip Malik and local professionals S Madaiah and C Muniyappa.

Also vying for attention would be the current All-India Amateur Champion Himmat Singh Rai - the Solaris Global Green Open is his first professional event - and 2006 Asian Games Silver Medallists Gaganjeet Bhullar and Chiragh Kumar, rookies on the Asian and PGTI.

Myanmar's Zaw Moe, Soe Kyaw Naing Singapore's Lam Chih-Bing, Changren Chiat and Japanese Tour players Craig McLean, Shinji Fukushima and Kentaro Ishihara, would lend international flavour to the event and offer India's leading professionals tough competition on home soil.

The fifth leg of the 2006-07 PGTI calendar, exciting golf will be on the cards at the Solaris Global Green Open. World-class competition and low scores are further guaranteed given the superior profiles of the professional golfers participating in the tournament, the depth of the field as well as the largest cheque on offer. The winner of this event will take home Rs 972,000.
