Railways carry 593.65 mln tonnes freight during Apr-Jan

New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) The Railways carried 593.65 million tonnes of freight traffic during the first ten months of the current fiscal, ended January.

The freight carried registered an increase of 50.84 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 542.81 million tonnes actually carried during the corresponding period last year, an increase of 9.37 per cent.

During January this year, the freight traffic carried by the Railways was 65.72 million tonnes, which marked an increase of four million tonnes over the actual freight traffic of 61.72 million tonnes carried during the same period last year, an increase of 6.48 per cent.
