Patil reviews Asom situation

Guwahati, Feb 9 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today reviewed Asom's law and order situation with the top brass of the state police, Army and para military forces.

A high level team of the Ministry also came to have a ground level review of the situation in the Hotel Brahmaputra Ashok. After the mayhem a semblance of normalcy has returned with ULFA withdrawing its games boycott call and also stopped their daily bombings.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had already gone on record saying that there would be no let up in the army operation as the ULFA had only withdrawn its boycott call of the Games.

The meeting decided to maintain the present level of intensified army operation under the Unified Command.

Mr Gogoi attended the meeting and it was decided that tough action against ULFA would continue irrespective of the latest ULFA gestures.
