One extortionist overpowered by people in Kashmir
Srinagar, Feb 9 (UNI) People in central Kashmir overpowered an armed extortionist and handed him to police, last evening, official sources said.
They said a group of four masked persons intruded into the house of one Assad Khan at Gojthaji Khansahib in central Kashmir district of Badgam, and demanded Rs 20,000 at gun point.
However, the house owner paid them Rs 5000 and promised to pay Rs 15,000 on the next day.
They said yesterday one of the extortionist again approached Khan for collecting the remaining money. However, he was overpowered and later handed over to police.
He was identified as Bashir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Yetchgam in the same district.
