Nikkei edges higher after machinery orders
TOKYO, Feb 9 (Reuters) The Nikkei average edged higher at the start of trade on Friday, with shares of machinery firms such as Fanuc Ltd. rising after data showed machinery orders fell 0.7 percent in December from the previous month, in line with expectations.
The Nikkei was up 30.10 points at 17,322.58 as of 0007 GMT.
The broad TOPIX index was up 0.06 percent at 1,721.27.
