Mayawati cooperating in 'disproportionate assets' investigations:CBI
New Delhi, Feb 9 (UNI) The CBI today said its investigations into former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Ms Mayawati's disproportionate assets case was near completion and as the politician was cooperating something would be known ''soon''.
As investigations into the case had some 'flaws' and 'shortcomings', it was re-evaluated after which Ms Mayawati presented her defence, said CBI Director Vijay Shankar talking to mediapersons at an informal gathering today.
''We have included her in our investigations and she has been very cooperative, after she was asked to join the probe.'' Defending the allegations that the matter was being 'dragged with a purpose' because of impending UP Assembly elections, the CBI chief said the agency was not being used as a political tool and as the investigations were in the final stages, something would emerge shortly.
