Jalandhar, Feb 9 (UNI) Janata Dal(S) national executive member and Malta Boat Tragedy Probe Mission Chairman Balwant Singh Khera said that he would file a petition before the Supreme Court to seek derecognition of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) led by Prakash Singh Badal, by the Election Commission(EC) for furnishing a misleading document.

Talking to reporters here today, Mr Khera alleged SAD had been using two different constitutions to run its activities.

While the constitution submitted by the party before the Sikh Gurdwara Election Commission(SGEC) states only a baptised Sikh could be the member of SAD, the other constitution submitted before the Election Commission was projecting SAD as a secular party which could be joined by any citizen, he said.

Mr Khera alleged while the constitution submitted to the Sikh Gurdwara Election Commission had been prepared to contest the SGPC and other Sikh religious bodies' elections, the other constitution had been submitted to the EC to project a secular, socialist and democratic image of the party to contest assembly, Parliament and other political elections.

He said he had filed a petition before the Apex Court a few days ago but the same was withdrawn in the wake of certain technicalities and now a revised petition would be filed soon.
