Karnataka to fight Cauvery dispute within legal frame

Bangalore, Feb 9 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy today said that the state government will fight the Cauvery water dispute with in legal frame work.

Talking to newsmen at the lounge of the Legislative Assembly, he said that the government would consult legal experts before deciding on the steps to be taken to fight the issue.

Replying to a question, he declined to disclose as to what steps the government would take saying that " at this juncture I cannot make public about the steps the government intends to take on the issue".

Mr Kumaraswamy said that the people of the State, by maintaining law and order and not giving into emotions have once again proved that they are peace loving people.

He said that the full text of the final judgment of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) was available with the government and would be made available to all leaders.

Defending the lawyers who represented the state in the Tribunal, Mr Kumaraswamy ruled out change of lawyers if the State goes on appeal before the CWDT.
