J K Assembly considers amendments proposed by Council

Jammu, Feb 9 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today considered the amendments proposed by the Legislative Council to the bill regarding Professional Entrance Examination Act, 2002, already passed by the Lower House.

The Assembly agreed with two amendments proposed by the Council suggesting that words of 'Principal of any government college' be deleted from the bill.

It also agreed with the amendment sought by Upper House regarding deletion of words 'in the state' and 'of the state' existing in the bill.

However, the Lower House did not agree to approve the amendment regarding deletion of words Assistant Professor or Reader in a clause of the bill, as sought by the Council.

Former Deputy Chief Minister and constitution expert Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Mr Harshdev Singh explained the necessity of accepting the two amendments and not agreeing with the third one.

Minister for CAPD Taj Mohi-ud-Din who moved the bill also explained the object of the bill and supported the two amendments out of the three suggested by the Upper House.

Mr Taj also moved the consideration and pass motions of another bill to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act Samvat 2000, Assembly Bill 2007, which the Assembly passed along with an amendment sought by Mir Saifullah.

Mr Baig explained all aspects of the bill aimed at curbing corruption in the state.

The Assembly also passed another bill moved by Power Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora regarding amendment to J&K State Electricity Regulatory Commission Act, 2000.
