Former Mumbai CP Y C Pawar is Mah BJP's new Vice President
Mumbai,Feb 9 (UNI) Television actress Smriti Irani and former Mumbai Joint Commissioner Police (CP) Y C Pawar figure in the new list of office bearers of the BJP's state unit, appointed for a period of three years.
Announcing the list today, Maharashtra Pradesh BJP President Nitin Gadkari said Ms Irani, who was the Vice President of the state's Youth Wing, has been appointed one of the nine secretaries of the state unit while former Joint CP (Crime) of Mumbai police Y C Pawar is among the nine Vice Presidents.
Piyush Goyal, son of former Union minister Ved Prakash Goyal has been named as Treasurer in place of Pratap Ashar, long time treasurer and close associate of late Pramod Mahajan, who has now been made Vice President.
Vinod Tawde will continue as the general secretary along with Pasha Patel and Chainsukh Sacheti (all legislators).
Madhu Chavan will be the Chief Spokeperson while Madhav Bhandari will be his deputy. The regional spokespersons will be Ganesh Hake and Shaina N C (Mumbai), Vijay Gawde (Marathwada) and Dayashankar Tiwari (Vidarbha).
Mr Gadkari also announced a 115-member working committee which comprises 25 special invitees and 30 permanent invitees. Mr Bal Apte, Gopinath Munde, Ved Prakash Goyal, Jayawantiben Mehta are prominent among the permanent invitees. Kirit Somaiya has been retained as Vice President while Vijay Girkar, who was earlier the National secretary of the party, has also been named Vice President.
