Corporation squad pelted with stones
Bhopal, Feb 9 (UNI) Chaos prevailed today at the bustling Kamla Nagar crossing here when the municipal corporation's anti-encroachment squad was pelted with stones while attempting to seize sand and gravel lying on the road.
Actually, contractor Babulal had the material placed there as work was progressing on culvert construction under the Capital Project, the police said.
Babulal and his supporters opposed the squad's action. The two sides came to blows after an argument and the stone-pelting damaged about five vehicles.
Bharatiya Janata Party Corporator Anil Agrawal and others reached the spot and opposed the corporation's action. The crossing was briefly blocked. Senior administrative officials also arrived on the scene.
A discussion sorted out the issue and no complaint was lodged with the police.
''Action has been proposed against the squad's inspector-level officer Rajeev Saxena,'' said the corporation's Deputy Commissioner K K Singh Chouhan.
