Congress candiate's ''misbehaviour'' with women poll issue
Fatehgarh Sahib, Feb 9 (UNI) Media reports of Sirhind Congress candidate Dr Harbans Lal's alleged ''misbehaviour with women'' during his campaign, are being made into a big poll issue here by his opponents in view of Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi's rally here tomorrow.
''National-level parties which field such persons do not know how to give due respects to women,'' SGPC member Didar Singh Bhatti and SAD candidate from Sirhind, said today describing the reported incident as ''very unfortunate''.
Addressing a press conference at Bassi Pathana, SAD district youth-wing president Gurpreet Singh Bhatti and Youth Akali Dal national general secretary Jagdeep Singh Cheema said their party had taken serious notice of the MLA's misbehavior with women when he had gone to seek votes at village Tarkhan Majra near Sirhind.
They alleged that the MLA used abusive language against women, adding that they were also consulting legal experts to take up the matter.
A private TV channel had recently telecast a news clip about the three-time Sirhind MLA Dr Harbans Lal allegedly misbehaving with women when some women of the village tried to tell their grievances to him during his poll campaign in village Tarkhan Majra.
Dr Lal however, termed the whole incident as a ''conspiracy'' against him and claimed that the women were sent to his meeting to create trouble and defame him.
