Bangalore, Feb 9 (UNI) The final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, which has sparked off protests across Karnataka on the ground that it was not favourable to the State, was placed before the State Cabinet here today.

Official sources said the judgement was placed on record in a Cabinet meeting, which urged for holding an all-party meeting within a week to find out ways to resolve the issue.

They said Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa took the officials to task for the lapses in implementing the 'Bhagyalakshmi' scheme and urged the Chief Minister to take stern action against them. The meeting approved provision of the deposit of Rs 10,000 for girl babies in Below Poverty Line families with an interest of Rs 280 for the delay.

An amount of Rs 58 crore earmarked for the scheme had been transferred to a Trust, headed by the Chief Secretary, for the effective implementation of the scheme.

They said the meeting also approved the setting up of a committee for reorganisation of districts and creation of new districts.

Besides, it was decided to appoint international experts to guide the State in the Krishna water dispute.

There was no official media briefing as the Legislature was in session.
