BDA to raise Rs 1,200 cr thru development cess
Bangalore, Feb 9 (UNI) The Bangalore Development Authority will raise Rs 1,200 crore from the public by imposing development cess for its ambitious Rs 3,600 crore 116-km-long outer peripheral infrastructure road project, BDA Commissioner Shankaralinge Gowda informed today.
Delivering a special address at the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises here, he said the cess would be imposed on the public who live in and around the proposed peripheral road. Besides, unauthorised encroachments in the area would be reclaimed. The BDA had recovered 80 acres of unauthorised encroachments worth Rs 626 crore and raised Rs 225 crore by auctioning a part of the acquired land.
Mr Gowda said the BDA had issued global tenders for the appointment of consultants and designers for the mega infrastructure project and exuded confidence that within three years, the peripheral road would become a reality.
He said the BDA proposed to distribute over 50,000 sites and construct two lakh houses for the economically weaker sections of the society in the city. It had also simplified its zonal regulations and increased the Floor Area Regulation up to three, which could be enhanced to four in and around the area where the Metro Rail passed, he added.
