Army JCO and two soldiers among 4 killed in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 9 (UNI) A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two soldier were among four people killed in the ongoing encounter in south Kashmir, a Defence Ministry spokesman said.

The militants ambushed a security force patrol party at Tral in Pulwama district of south Kashmir late last night, he said.

The troops returned the fire. One civilian and three soldiers, including the JCO, were killed in the crossfire.

However, local residents alleged that the civilian was killed by security forces in his house after the incident.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the area and the operation was still going on, the spokesman said.
