AP govt postpones 10th and Intermediate exams

Hyderabad, Feb 9 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to postpone the 10th class and intermediate examinations in view of the state legislative council election on March 17.

According to official sources here, the state cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy has decided to postpone the exams to facilitate the teachers to attend election duty and exercise their franchise in the council elections.

The concerend departments would reschedule the dates of the examinations. The exams would be postponed by two or three days.

The sources also said, the state cabinet ratified the proposal of construction of hostels for Orthopaedically disabled boys in Prakasam, Kurnool and Medak districts and upgrade the 15 bed hospital to 100 beds at Nirmal in Adilabad district.

The cabinet also approved increase in the salaries of teachers working in government Medical and Dental colleges as per the UGC scales.

Five acres of land has been alloted to the Centre for Liver Research and Diagnostics to construct Centre for Research and Regenerative therapy centre which was being established in collaboration with the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) in the city, the sources said.

The cabinet also approved filling up of 367 vacancies in Road transport department besides appreciating the Chief Minister for distributing his surrendered land to the poor in kadapa district.
