Yaseen ends his three-day hunger strike in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 8 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman Mohammad Yaseen Malik today ended his three-day hunger strike.

Malik was on a hunger strike to protest fake encounters by security forces.

He was offered a glass of juice to end the hunger strike by members of Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) at 1540 hrs.

The JKLF chief alleged human rights violations in the Kashmir valley has worsened after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced a zero tolerance for rights violations on May 22 last year here.

He said 60,000 released former militants are now being forced to join the national mainstream parties or become security force informers.

He said the released militants are being harassed by security forces and police personnel. Infact they are being forced to take up arms again, he alleged.

Malik said he will be going to Delhi to launch a campaign against killings of innocent people in fake encounters by the forces.

He said the authorities must explain what happened to 8000 people who are missing in custody.

He reiterated that he will sit on fast unto death if government failed to stop human rights violations within 45 days.

Malik, looking very weak x x x Eds picking up here from para two of DR11 Agitation-Kashmir-JKLF.
